Its your basic chicken/sub shop: fried chicken, lake trout, cheesesteaks, burgers, candy, soda, little debbie snack cakes, etc...)

Located at the prime location of north and charles (across the street from club choices, down the street from the depot and the charles theatre, and other spots) The place is at its busiest on friday and saturday nights after last call. Walking in, you will be waiting for your 3 piece box w/ cheese fries along while someone will ask "Hey man, you drunk?"

"Who isn't?"

"Aw man, you're cool."

But the food: the fried chicken, especially at night due to the high turnover, is perfectly fried. Of course they have ample supplies of hot sauce (and old bay) for you to douse the chicken with. Their fries are standard frozen shoe strings that tastes like they were fried in chicken fat (which they probably are). Their cheesesteaks are enormous and therefore, the perfect drunk food.

Other stuff of note: they carry an assortment of side dishes. Their red beans and rice were mediocre, but at least their corn on the cob is better than the standard ones at KFC (across on st paul). They also carry little buckets of collard greens that is sinfully satisfying.

all in all, this place is the quintessential after-bar spot.

*I'm pretty sure the guy was joking.
Detailing the inexpensive eats that Baltimore and the surrounding area has to offer.

DuClaw
901 S. Bond Street
Baltimore, MD 21231
website

DuClaw is a slice of suburban Maryland situated conveniently enough in Fells Point. There are other locations located in Arundel Mills and Bowie. It's got some sort of semi-chic thing going on with exposed ventilation and feels like maybe 2 steps above a Ruby Tuesday. The menu has your standard bar far: nachos, wings, i.e. deep dried stuff in other deep fried stuff, as well as an assortment of sandwiches and I don't know what else because I was too focused on getting a burger, in spite of having eaten at Five Guys last night.

I ordered the Arizona Burger ($7.99) which is huge at 10 oz. and according to the menu, comes "dusted with unique Arizona seasoning" as well as bacon, gouda cheese, and chipotle mayo. It arrived with 2 slices of thick, crisp bacon, red onion and lettuce, and the sesame bun was lightly toasted. It was on the salty side, and the "chipotle-yo" is some kind of combination horse-radish/thousand island/Big Mac sauce which complemented the salty gouda and arizona seasoning, with well, more saltiness. The fries were nothing special.

Final Verdict: I'd rather eat here than Ruby Tuesday

Detailing the inexpensive eats that Baltimore and the surrounding area has to offer.

Five Guys
111 W. The brand-new Park Ave/Centre St. location put a gleaming red & white spin on our Baltimore burger night.
In the past few years, Five Guys has acquired more positive reviews (99% are glowing) than any other DC metro area cheap eats-style restaurant and proudly displays them everywhere. They are experts at building anticipation both outside and inside the restaurant. The brand is downright loveable and the employees have been friendly at every location I’ve visited.
There’s not much more to say except come hungry and don’t bring peanut-allergic friends as there are boxes of whole peanuts hanging out as you wait for your order.
We all got burgers and shared fries because even the regular size portions are huge. The fries could be crispier, but they actually taste like fresh potatoes, so they don’t need to be burnt to make me happy. Cajun spiced fries are available and I enjoyed the variety since the flavor is not overwhelming and tastes good with ketchup.
I also love how you can add all the toppings for free (barring bacon and cheese). I had the bacon cheeseburger with fried onions, sautéed mushrooms, and tomato. The patties are wide, so they fold ‘em over to fit in the bun, giving the illusion of a triple on the double-patty regular burger. In the throes of my hunger, I forgot to order pickles, but rest assured they use Mt. Olive brand pickles: the superior burger accessory brand.
The menu is simple and appropriately priced, also including succulent-looking hot dogs (can be ordered wrapped in bacon!!!), grilled cheese sandwiches, and veggie dogs (no idea where they come from and I will ask next time).
I will try to make myself order a hot dog or grilled cheese (with bacon & tomato!!!) next time, but it’s hard to be distracted from the burgers.
